Sharon Regional promotes Amy Smith to chief operating officer
Sharon Regional Health System has announced the promotion of Amy Smith, DNP, RN, ACNS-BC, NEA-BC to chief operating officer (COO). She joined SRHS in November 2012 as chief quality officer and has played a major role in leading the improvement of numerous clinical quality and patient safety initiatives.  

Ms. Smith has successfully established a culture of accountable, team-driven, continued improvement at Sharon Regional leading project teams that focused on the outpatient surgery experience, Hermitage Diagnostic & Imaging Center wait times, compliance with Highmark Quality Blue Reporting, implementation of a Daily Safety Huddle, and providing the leadership and support for various licensure and accreditation successes.

In her new role, Ms. Smith will be responsible for the overall performance of day-to-day operations and quality of the Health System.

Ms. Smith earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice in nursing leadership and administration from Duquesne University, a Master of Science in nursing from Gannon University in Erie, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She has earned advanced board certifications as a Nurse Executive, Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, Acute Care Case Manager, and Certified Case Manager. Her professional memberships include the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Organization of Nurse Executives, American Nurses Association (National Scope & Standards Workgroup), Case Management Society of America, National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing. She also serves on the editorial review panel for MEDSURG Nurse Journal.
